Our Leadership Philosophy

Leading With Heart. Empowering Through Service.

At Kerensa Care & Support, leadership isn't about power—it's about purpose.

We lead through Servant Leadership. It's the cornerstone of our care, our culture, and our community. This philosophy guides how we support our team and how they, in turn, support the individuals we care for every day.

What is Servant Leadership?

Servant Leadership is a people-first approach that flips traditional management models. Instead of directing from above, leaders at Kerensa serve from within—nurturing the success, growth, and well-being of every team member and Supported Person.

At its core, this leadership philosophy asks:

“How can we serve you better?”

Why We Chose This Model

Where others may lead with control, we lead with compassion. Our Servant Leadership model allows us to:

  • Foster trust and transparency

  • Empower decision-making at every level

  • Build meaningful, respectful relationships

  • Deliver better outcomes for the people we support

This isn’t just a theory—it’s a daily practice that aligns perfectly with our mission to provide truly person-centred care.

How We Practice Servant Leadership

Our leadership team supports our Support Workers, so they can support the people who matter most.

Our Support Workers are core to achieving our mission. They work directly with the people we support, ensuring their needs, aspirations, and dignity are upheld. To enable them to perform at their best, our managers, back-office team, and directors dedicate themselves to supporting the Support Workers in the following ways:

  • We invest in ongoing training and development to ensure our Support Workers are equipped with the skills and knowledge they need to provide the highest quality care.

  • From essential equipment to cutting-edge technology, we ensure our team has access to everything they need to perform their roles effectively and efficiently.

  • We maintain open lines of communication at all levels of the organisation, fostering an environment where every voice is heard and valued.

  • We prioritise the well-being of our team, providing support for mental health, work-life balance, and career growth.

The Core Principles That Guide Us

  • Listening

We seek to understand before we respond.

  • Empathy

We lead with compassion and respect, fostering a culture of respect and understanding.

  • Persuasion

We influence through trust, not authority.

  • Openness

We share information and admit mistakes.

  • Commitment to Growth

We’re committed to lifelong learning—for everyone.

  • Stewardship

Ensuring resources and efforts serve the best interests of all stakeholders; Our Supported People, Team, and the wider community.

  • Community

We build belonging through events, support, and shared purpose.

  • Give Back

Hosting social events throughout the year, we invest in schemes to show recognition, and we reward those who excel.

Why It Matters

When our Support Workers feel heard, empowered, and inspired, they’re able to deliver the kind of care that transforms lives. The ripple effect is powerful—creating stronger connections, higher satisfaction, and greater outcomes for all.
